Oh Simone! You’ve done it again interweaving tales from The Aran Islands with your stunning Autumn Winter 2020 collection for London Fashion Week.
For this collection the Dublin born fashion star took inspiration from John Millington Synge’s 1904 play Riders to the Sea set on Inishmaan about a family ravaged by tragedy, at the mercy of the great and unforgiving Atlantic Ocean. Hence the Aran knits, swirling oyster satin, fisherman bags, nets, pearls, broken shells – Rocha knows how to spin a yarn to keep us all enthralled.
The drama of grief clearly captivates Rocha, the garments of the Catholic Church always make an appearance from priestly black and white to punctuated cardinal reds and that all encompassing widow black.
On the other end of the scale, Rocha has lavished this collection in tonal whites and creams. She jokes she’s still making up for not making her first holy communion while witnessing all her friends dressed in white.
With her latest flagship store opened in Hong Kong last year, The Simone Rocha brand is stronger than ever and growing, her dedication to the arts and quality of finish the cornerstone of her success. Simone’s creations are exclusive to Havana Boutique Donnybrook in Ireland and can be found in the most prestigious stores around the world from Dover Street Market to Saks Fifth Avenue.
